Logan County Youth Development

Ongoing collaboration with Logan County schools, Community, and Business to enhance students career exploration and opportunities, while celebrating their successes.

College Day-hosted by Benjamin Logan Local School. Junior and seniors from all over the county have an opportunity to talk with representatives from colleges, universities, technical schools, and the US military.

Career Day-hosted by Riverside Local School.  7th grade students get hands-on exposure to well-known occupations, as well as many positions they may not have come in contact within their daily routines.

Career Expo-hosted by Indian Lake Local School. Career exploration in high school is an important step to a successful future. Representatives from many local businesses and industries showcase what their company offers to the community.  In the Expo, high school students will have the opportunity to interact with representatives with many different career opportunities available now and in the future.

Signing Day- Seniors announce their “E”!  Signing a document declaring their plan to be Employed, Enlisted or Enrolled.

County Spelling Bee-the host for this event rotates each year.  Two student representatives from each 1st-8th grade school building meet to see who the “Top Speller” from Logan County will be.

Academic Achievement Breakfast-hosted and breakfast sponsored by Honda Heritage Center.  NEX is also a sponsor of this event.  Students in grades 9th -12th are honored for their Academic Excellence.

Amy Simindinger

Juvenile Court Liaison

Amy Simindinger serves the role of Juvenile Court Liaison for Shelby County. Amy is a graduate of Sidney High School and The Ohio State University. Prior to her role with the MRESC, Amy was principal of Nicholas School in Piqua for 11 years, serving children with academic and social challenges. Amy is also the director of the IMPACT program and serves as a Parent Project Facilitator.

Amy has served in several nonprofit organizations in Shelby County including 8 years with Charity League, 6 years with Shelby County CASA/GAL and five years with Wilma Valentine Childcare.

Amy also advocates for animals and serves as a foster family for the Shelby County Animal Shelter and other area animal rescues. In her free time, Amy enjoys Ohio State Football, reading and spending time with her family.
